Cant open System Preferenes

Hey, I have a friend that has a new g4 tower, and he is new to x not sure what he has done but now when he clicks on the system preferences, it opens a new window with nothing in it ... all you can see is the "show all button", we tried reintalling x last night but does the same thing. any ideas would be great.

The system-installed ones are in /System/Library/PreferencePanes. Did he move /System or something within it?
 
Yeah I think he moved a lot of things. I will check out the

and see what he has done, might have to do a restore....

I think your friend has to erase his HD and try reinstaling everything. That's all I can suggest. I've had to do that once, it's hard when you have files on the HD that you need.
