Can't partition, having trouble with reboot disc utility

I'm getting the partitioning error that seems to be pretty common, the one that asks you to repair the disc through disc utility. I've seen that you have to reboot with The Disc in the drive, but from there on, it's been a problem.

I have limited ability to back up my stuff on this comp, and I have the bare necessities down, and am willing to take the repair risk. But, when I try to start from the disc, it just gives me options to reinstall OS X, I don't see anything about Disc Utility or repairs anywhere. I don't want to end up doing the wrong thing and screwing myself over.

I tried using disc one of the two grey discs that came in the "Everything Else" sleeve with my Macbook... are these the right ones? They say OS X on them, but yeah.

My mac is a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro v. 10.5.5, if you need to know that.

While you are booted to that installer DVD, and are at the first couple of screens, you can choose a variety of utilities from the Utilities menu at the top of the screen. One of them will be the Disk Utility...
