Can't reboot with new hard drive, need help.

Hi, everybody.
I just put a new hard drive (western digital 80gig) into my iMac G3 500 MHz.
Now when I try to boot the computer using Os 9 disc and holding C down, I hear classic Ta-ta music and then the flashing smiley computer face with ? mark.......
I've set the new drive to Master...
Could anyone help?

My best guess, is that the hard drive cables arn't seated properly. Try reseating them.

Someone gave me this computer along with a disc that's not original (came from another model). Could that be the reason?

You'll be better off getting a retail copy of OS 9.

Alright I found the problem.
I put a new DVD ROM and I was able to boot the computer.
