Can't see drives

Hello all.

I'm having difficulty seeing the disk drives on my Mac from my Xp machine. I have networking set up, and I can see the user folder on my mac, but no access to the external HD i have connected (or the system drive, for that matter).

What I'm noticing, is that I can see the mac's main user account on my XP machine, and all the folders and files there, but not the main system. To further clarify, if i open a finder window on the mac, I can see the drives listed in the first box at the top left, and below the partition in the finder window, I see the "house" icon with my user name listed. when i click this, i see various files and folders, but no drive icons. THIS is what i'm seeing on my XP machine, so somehow I'm not sharing the whole machine, just the user account folder.

Please help. Thank you so much.

Are you using Mac OS X Tiger (10.4), or Mac OS X Leopard (10.5)? If Leopard, have you configured the Sharing pane of the System Preferences to share drives other than the home folder?

thanks so much for replying. i am using 10.4.11 - the strange thing is, I can see the "home" folder of my mac on my xp machine, but I cant see the drives. its very strange. i think i set everything to share properly, but there is a very real possibility i dont know what i dont know, you know?

thanks...
