Can't type in the terminal

I'm just starting to play around in the terminal but when I write a 'sudo' command it won't let me type my password???!!
The only key that works is return/enter.
What's up with that???
Am I doing something wrong?

Doesn't display your password as you enter it. Just type your password and press enter.

Just to clarify what DeltaMac said: the Terminal does not display your password when you type for security purposes. If someone was behind you and saw even little bullets, they'd know how long your password is.

This way, they don't know how long your password is and therefore have to try many more combinations in order to find the right password.

Just type in your password as normal (even though it doesn't show up), and press return. The Terminal will know what you typed.
