Capturing Shockwave Flash

In Safari, go to Window -> Activity, find the .swf file(s), hold down option, and double click to download.

Yup, the SWF downloaded nicely. But it came down as a RealPlayer
file that my version 10.1.0 refused to play. I assume I've done something
terribly stupid and deserve to die.

Any suggestions?

Curiosity: For Firefox, try the UnPlug add-on.

Albloom: It sounds like your problem is simply that RealPlayer has somehow become the default app for files it can't read. If you drag the file to Safari, it will probably play there. You might also want to download a dedicated Flash player, such as SWF & FLV Player or the official Adobe Flash Player.

You should probably make either a web browser or one of those dedicated players the default app for SWF files. (You can do that in the Get Info window of the file in the Finder; just select the app you want under the "open with" section and then click "Change All".)

Thanks, I have Unplug, and it is a lifesaver for getting at embedded videos. This particular video is set up by another flash file, and is not linked in the usual way. Unplug found the loader file but not the movie.

Well, I tried Ferdinand's suggestion using Safari with the video you linked, and it worked perfectly. I just ran the swf on my computer and watched the entire video. Perhaps you need to simply use Safari to grab those types of videos.
