Carpal Tunnel: Is Smart Glove a Smart Choice?

Hi, folks.

After many years of having a computer desk job (not to mention the time I spend on my own computer when I'm not at work), I'm feeling the beginning of carpal tunnel setting in. I've read a lot of good things about Smart Glove and just bought one yesterday. I would like to hear from anyone who has used this product. Did it help you? I'm hoping to get some relief and prevent (or at least slow down the process of) carpal tunnel.

My mom had Carpal Tunnel, I'm not sure if she had one of those or not, but it looks familiar. Things like wrist support for mouse pads seemed to help too. She ended up getting the surgery, because she needs her hands for work a lot, and surgery solved her problems.

While I haven't used the Smart Glove (my carpal tunnel issue is probably not as advanced as yours seems to be), I've been using their Mouse Support http://www.imakproducts.com/products/ergobeads.htm#ergobeadsfabricwristsupport for the past six or eight months and find that it works extremely well for me in alleviating wrist discomfort, even after spending many hours at my Powerbook.
The Smart Glove should be quite helpful for you; it, like the Mouse Support, is filled with small, plastic beads. Why not post your experience with it after using your Smart Glove for a while.

Thanks for the replies. I'll come back at a future date and give an update as to how the Smart Glove is working.

This bothers me, I have yet to experience any pain or similar affects. But it brings up a good idea. I work almost 9 hours on my iBook daily. I'd love to hear feedback about this product as well.

Quick update: Granted, it's probably too early to tell (but maybe one *can* notice a different in just two days?), but all I know is that the discomfort in my wrist has lessened immensely. I've been wearing my Smart Glove today and yesterday, and I already feel a difference. I wear it for a while, then I take it off and do wrist stretches and shake out my wrist, then work for a teeny bit without it. Then I put it back on for a while. I do this throughout the entire day while working on my computer. It really has seemed to have made a difference, even though it's only been two days.

Just thought I'd let you all know. I'll keep you posted and do another update in the future.
