cd burner not recognized

I had a QPS firewire burner who's power supply went out. I got a new supply and now iTunes won't recognize burner or software. I tried a new burner-Monsoon firewire-same deal. The burner IS recognized in apple system profiler, but the finder doesn't recognize discs when trying to burn data.

Tried that. It doesn't have the driver for my EZQuest Monsoon.

I installed Toast and it found my burner, but it kept rejecting my blank recordable CD's. I don't think it is a driver issue, but something in the OS. I'm thinking about re-installing OS(10.2.8).

any luck with that approach? I've got the same bug going on... cd doesn't show up anywhere and the internal drive is "missing" somehow.

Turned out the burner was bad. They sent me a new one and it works fine.
