Was able to burn dvds and cds with perfect apple-ease but now, to my surprise, I am unable to burn a thing. I am using a Powerbook G4.

Any of these two issues come up:

1. 700MB CD-R disc is said to not have enough space to hold 120 MB of info (pics, music, etc.)

2. Attempting to burn a DVD, the computer "waits" for a blank DVD to be inserted. Trys and trys to accept the disc but in the end, spits it out.

Hope you can help me out.

I was originally attempting to rip a dvd from disk utility and then burn it. It rips the dvd, i think, ok; into .cdr. I click "burn", tells me it is waiting for me to insert a blank dvd. I insert a dvd-r, blank, and the drive trys to take it for a minute or so and then just spits it back.

Thinking it was a burner issue, I went into i-tunes to try to burn some random songs onto a cd-r. PIcked about 18 songs at 520MB. Put in a 700MB cd-r. I-tunes said there was not enough space on the disc inserted, I would need multiple discs. I clicked ok anyway and it burned almost all the songs to the disc. So the burner is working, to some extent.

I am going to go back and get different dvd-r discs. But I still dont see why that would be the issue. This is a superdrive, should have no issues. Also, before, was working no problem, so easy.

Thanks for your help.

Well, it seems Apple products demand quality. Turns out the blank discs i was using were no good where the disc drive just spit them right out. I live in China, so easy to opt for the very cheap option on accessories.

Hope this problem is over.
