Dear All,
First, I apologise if this is the wrong section to post this thread. Second, could the moderators not move this thread, thank you.
Background:
I work on a project for work that is delivered on CD-ROM. The project itself has a lot of written content, so at present we use a search engine to index the content and make the whole CD searchable. The problem is that this search engine costs us money via licencing issues and we would like an alternative.
The search engine that we use at present is called "WebROM" by Open Objects software. More information on this product can be found here:-

Now here is my request: Is there an CD search engine that does what WebROM does but is Freeware? I have seen some about, but some of the Indexers are difficult to use. Here is the requirement:
1. Must work on any platform, PC, MAC, Linux
2. Must work on either CD or Internet
3. Freeware or one off payment
4. Must have the ability to excluded certain sections and keywords.
I think that's about it.
Please post suggestions with URL.
