Hi all

Not sure if this is a software issue or not, but my powerbook (titanium 867, 10.3.9) has stopped recognising blank cdrs. Once inserted the drive just churns and the disk has to be ejected...

Anyone had the same issue? If so, is it easy to fix?

Any help greatly appreciated

dave

What happens when you insert an audio CD?

Make sure your options are set correctly in System Preferences / CDs & DVDs.

Hi

Thanks for the reply...

when I insert a music cd it opens in itunes no problem and when I insert a pre-burned cd it appears on the desktop and I can access it.

the problem occurs when inserting a blank cdr, the drive just doesn't seem to be able to 'catch' it and it whirrs and clicks before eventually spitting it out.

cd/dvd settings seem to be in order...

possibly a drive glitch as opposed to a software problem?

I have the same problem with my 667 titanium powerpc g4... it can read all kinds of medias EXCEPT blank cds....i dont know what to do..how do i resolve this? it use to be able to read/write blank cds before, i dont know what happened. PLEASE I need your help...anyone ??? thanks.

Try getting a new optical drive!

Ah...! Never thought of that...

Tried cleaning the lens with one of those cleaning cds, helped to an extent but still has problems...

Have you tried using other types of blank CD-R media? Lately I've noticed that some drives have problems with certain blank CD-R discs.
