Change Play Count?

Howdy
Is there a way to change the play count in iTunes? I used a neet little program and recorded a CD off the net before it was released. Now i'm gonna buy the CD tonight and i want to keep the play counts. I know i can start the mp3, move the play head to the end, and let it finish over and over again but i'm looking for something easier.

Yes, you can go to your iTunes directory and modify the "Music Library.xml" file. Change the integer under the "Play Count" tag.
 
Ok so what about my iPod? I have it hooked up and can see it in iTunes but there is no xml that i see for that.
