Change the window manager to act like X windows???

I'm wondering if there is some way to make an application become active without having to select the application's window with the mouse. I like how Xwindows does it (and also Xmouse in Windows) where the application becomes active on mouse over. That possible in Aqua?

no and never

BTW mouse focus is horrid, a better idea IMO is a click-through modifier. So for example command-clicking a background window would click it without bringing it to the foreground.

This kinda works in Cocoa apps now, but for reasons discussed ad nauseum at the Apple HI list, it's not currently a very good implementation.
