Hi,

i installed a couple of new icons on my powermac g4, but when i click the icons is says: No program to open this file.

So i looked into the FAQ's and i found the problem...i forgot the copy/paste the command...

But now...i can't change it back(i think).

So...does anyone knows how to fix this problem? Or were i can get the basic icons with basic commands?

Thnx

What do you mean by adding Icons ?

If you want to change the icon of an Application, of a Folder or of a Document, you have to open its Info menu and then paste your icon on the Icon in the info box.

"you have to open its Info menu and then paste your icon on the Icon in the info box."

That's what i did wrong, so now i can't use the icons any more, when i click it it says: 'could not find a program to open this file'.

You can get your icons back by clicking the icon in the Get Info window and then going Edit>Cut. This should fix it. :)

Rickys method should work. But if its a stubborn folder/program, try logging out and then back in, and see if that helps.

This probably isn't exactly what you want, but ...

there's a program on version tracker called "aquafix" that restores all the interface elements if they've been changed using a theme or such. I think you might actually have a problem with your file associations, though.
You can force a file to open in a particular app by shift-ctrl-clicking it and choosing the open-with command, or by selecting the Open with application drop-down in the file info box. Make sure you've got the right app, and once you're satisfied that it works properly, select change all.
