changing keybindings

in 2 situations i get wrong (american) keybindings on my mac which has a german keyboard.

1. when i login without starting aqua by typing >console in the login dialog

2. when i start my xdarwin. since there is no XF86Config-file. documentation is confusing. i've crashed my machine severaL times trying to launch xdarwin with a german keyboard-layout.

i assume one has nothing to do with the other.

answer part 2:

settings->start gives you a choice of different keymaps.

answering my own questions, why not?
