I am working on a project to scan and digitally archive a selection of paper documents to PDF/A format. I am currently using Mac OS X 10.6.4 and Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro.
My question is how to handle the difference in creation date between the paper document and the scanned file. The paper files are from the past 50 years, but of course the file creation date of the scans is the date of the scan. How can I reconcile this? Ideally I would like to make the scan metadata creation date of the PDF/A the same as that of the original paper file creation date.
I have found tools/methods both within Acrobat and outside it to change the finder/spotlight creation date of a file, but this is different and is not always maintained if the file is transferred from one computer to another. (Please note the documents are from various dates, and so many will have different dates, and batch scripting would be extremely labor intense.)
Thanks for any suggestions.
