Changing previous owners details in my iMac

Dear all,

Just bought my 1st mac and I'm struggling a bit with details that keep popping up from the previous owner.

In Finder the home space still carries his name. I've searched but not yet found how to easily rename this.

Following this, I was editing some pictures in iPhoto and wanted to send one via email to a friend. When the email box popped up the only option I had was to send with mentioning the email address of the previous owner, even though I have already deleted his email account and created mine in the email app.

I admit I'm a newbie, but would like to get some quick fixes through this channel.

If someone can direct me towards the light, that would be great !!

Greetings
Niko

You can't change the name of the user you are logging into. You will need to create a new user, but once you do this you will lose access to the files such as photos, music, documents, etc that exist under that other user. If you really need those file as well, you should copy them to an external HD, thumb drive, etc, create the new user account and log in to the new user accout and drag those files back in.

You can change the short name for the user home folder with these steps

However, when you purchase a Mac from some other user, it is much better a practice to a) reinstall the system and the apps so you get a completely clean table, or at least b) create a new admin user, log in as that user, then delete the previous admin user (which you can't delete when you are logged in as the user you want to delete).
