Changing the DNS server that a ODM uses

Greetings!

I have an OD domain that I manage for my office. I've just been told that our head office wants our Macs to now be part of AD, this by itself is not a issue, in testing we have been able to bind our clients and everything is working OK. The issue I have is this...

When I setup my OD domain I was using my own DNS running from the ODM but now I need to use the DNS server from the head office. Changing the ip on the server is not a problem (changeip), beside making sure that my ODM is registered in the new DNS with forward and reverse what do I need to do to make sure that when I shut off the DNS service on the ODM that nothing will break?

Servers and clients are all running 10.4.x

You should be OK. Is it just a matter that the DNS is moving from the local box to the one in the head office or do you have to change the FQDN and IP as well?

If it's just changing which server houses the DNS, just be sure that the records are setup properly and you should be OK.

You can also duplicate the DNS entries and use this server as a backup. Makes the network a bit more failsave.

Good luck, Kees
