will some chess player please recommend the best software for Mac OSX ? I want something which will move seamlessly on a black and white 2 dimensional board, in the manner of "ChessBase". No fancy 3D or marbled boards or cartoon pieces. Something I could use for serious study, analysis, input of my own games, import of historic games, etc. Want it to run in OSX, not classic. Thanks for advice ! - choppi (choppi@mac.com)

I assume you've already looked at the free Chess program that comes bundled with OSX?

EDIT: It doesn't have all the features you mentioned, of course, but it's a decent basic chess program.

My son uses Sigma Chess. It has a free version, and I think there's also a non-free version if you want to pay for more features. It seems to me that the free version has more features than most people would know what to do with. I believe it has everything that you said you want. (And did I mention it's free!)
