Cinema Display life span?

Does anyone have any projected lifespan info on the original Cinema Displays or other LCDs for that matter?

My 22" cinnie is just starting to have screen burn-in issues. It is three years old. If I leave a high contrast window open (black text on white window) for a long time, I can see the ghosted image of the text on the desktop when I close it. It's not a big problem yet, but the writing is on the wall.

I should point out that it's not permenant at all, but it can linger for several minutes to half an hour before clearing up.

Some areas, like the hard drive icon, which is always in the same spot, do not show burn in if I move the icon.

Impossible to 'burn' an image and permanently damage an LCD (as a CRT can be damaged). An image can remain for some time (perhaps 24 hours or so) but some power off time will fix that. The main problems that shows the age of an LCD is backlight. As the lighting ages, there will be less brightness. Some backlights can be replaced easily, others may be a factory replace. With less brightness, less contrast, and a 'ghost' image will be visible for a longer time. This may be what you see.
