Classic Environment

I am currently running an eMac with OS 10.2.8 I have many applications which will only run with Mac OS 9+, which I can easily access without having to restart. If I upgrade to OS 10.3 + or OS 10.4, will I still be able to access Classic Environment from within Mac OS X ?

Only Intel macs cannot use the Classic environment. 10.5 may remove support, but 10.4 should be good.

MacOS X 10.5 will run on G5, G4, and some G3-based Macs. There is absolutely no reason to believe that it won't include Classic support--and it will.

'If I upgrade to OS 10.3 + or OS 10.4, will I still be able to access Classic Environment from within Mac OS X ?' - yes, ... if you 'upgrade'.

If you intend to backup your current data, format the hard disk drive, and perform an 'installation' - then your process changes. You will be required to boot the Mac with the 'System 9' 'MacOS 9 Install' disc, install 'System 9', perform any 'System 9' updates, and then insert either the 'Panther Install' CD (please view 'spinning ball' first) or 'Tiger Install' DVD - and continue with its installation.

thanks - I am only planning an upgrade.
It's good to know that OS10.5 will support Classic Environment - I might hold off until then.
