Classic Missing In Action

I have a Powerbook, G4 (the "About this Mac" calls it a 'PowerPC G4'). I had a system crash and had to re-load everything. When I re-loaded OSX (10.3.9), I couldn't open anything in Classic. When I try, it says "The system software on the startup disk only functions on the original media, not if copied to another drive."

What is wrong? What can I do to get Classic going?
 
My guess is that you tried to install MacOS 9 by dragging a copy from a CD-ROM. There are a million threads on this forum about how to restore MacOS 9 to your harddrive. Search the forum for one and follow the instructions.
