Command+tab more intelligent?

I know that Command+tab has that new graphic thing, but is the ordering of it more intelligent than in 10.2? That's one thing that Windows does a lot better.

I don't really remember how 10.2 does it (I use LiteSwitch) but doesn't it just switch in the order of which app was used last? What would you want it to do?

Slightly related... I wish Apple'd bring back application level windowing. It seems a little ridiculous to be using one app, while its windows are behind another app. LiteSwitch fixes it, but seriously, are they preparing us for a transition to Windows?

I believe that Windows will sort them from the last one used, but all of them. Very handy.

And I personally like more control over indivdual windows. If you want all of an app's windows in front, then click the app's Dock icon.

I prefer Apple's.
It switches first to the previous application, and then to all the other applications in the order they appear in the dock.
Its advantage over Windows Alt-Tab, though, is that you can press Q or H while holding the command key to quit and hide applications in the sequence, while you're still going through the list. This makes it very easy to close off the three programs you're finished with, hide another, and switch to another, all in just a few keystrokes.

wow never knew about that shortcut, that will really help, with the limited screen space in my powerbook:D

Nice, the switching to the previous app nuance is something I missed. I believe it had previously just rotated through in the order of the dock, which can seem arbitrary if you expect it to heed the order you last used the applications.

I would like something a bit more obvious about how many switches I need to make to get to a particular app though. Trying to count apps in the dock that have triangles takes way too long. Having a separate pop-up display seems ideal. I too use APPLE-TAB - APPLE-Q to quit apps. Very nice.

Apple tab is good, but there are alternatives. I use Voice commands for many things such as opening apps I use on a daily basis (Computer, open Safari, Computer, Open (i)Tunes, Computer, check Mail) as well as closing apps.
And to save screen space when you're doing a bunch of things that require multiple screens, I recommend Space.

Space is solid gold. I very rarely actually use it, but when I'm doing hardcore web site work and I've got Safari, Hydra, and Photoshop open, each with about a thousand windows, Space rocks my world.
