complaint re fan noise on 17" powerbook?

Hi

Someone was complaining the other day about the noise from the fan on their new 17" PB...

I've tried finding the thread, but have given up...

Anyway, I saw something called the iPerch Plus (which apparently has two small silent fans) at :

and thought this might solve the problem?

I bought the iScoot from them previously and it's a lovely piece of kit!

Wow, the powerbook 17'' has a noisy fan? I am surprised. My brother has the 12'' alubook and there is almost no noise. Well on the other hand it can get really hot. Thought the 17'' doesn't have these issues. surprise surprise...

I have a 17 PB and almost never hear the fan. If it is being used really heavy you might hear a little fan noise at times but it hasn't been objectional.

I was surprised to see the complaint too...

My 17" is virtually silent except when having been used for an hour or so on my lap!

However, the guy who was upset by the noise said he worked in a recording studio or something and that there was therefore no tolerance for any noise at all...

Hence my suggestion above - not because I've found I need it!
