Computer slowing down?

I am using OS X 10.3.3 on my old PB G3/333Mhz Bronze. I have 256Mb Ram. After using some applications the computer gets realy slow. It's like the old days when I was using the old OS 9 and the memory was not cleared after closing the applications ::evil::

256mb of ram is really too less for macosx. If you tend to open many apps and maybe just put it to sleep, I would try to max out the ram. Am not sure what's the limit of the G3 powerbook. Hope 256mb is not max :(

Yes I know that :( But I don't mean that I have many applications running. What I mean is that the computer gets slower and slower the longer I use it. Finally I have to restart it to get better speed again?

That's the normal behavior of OS X. As you keep using more computer, it caches more and more pages, and even programs. At some point you start swapping files to and from the hard drive. After a restart, there is nothing in memory, so it can fill up again.

This behaviour was typicall for my iBook which had 256mb of ram as well. After I replaced a 128mb with a 512mb it stopped getting really slow after some time. There are some tools which can indicate the current available ram-capacity. You might want to check on versiontracker for such and see how your ram behaves after some time.
