ComputerTown Fraudulant?

Hi Folks,

A friend of mine ordered an iMac from ComputerTown based on this Maccentral Article. He waited for several weeks and was finally told he would not be getting a computer. They didn't get enough or something like that.

Anyway, in the deal you had to pay up front. I'm sure he got his money back, but this smells an awful lot like a money making scam. I would think if you pay up front you should get what you paid for.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with this company (or a different one for that matter)?

Be wary of such deals.

This is the single major problem with Mac purchasing. The reliance on warehouse trading companies. Money first, product later. Though I'm not implying that they are dodgy, it's just that they're not customer-centric.

We don't have much in the way of high-street Mac (specialist) retailers (except for the odd one or two large chains with psuedo-mac sections).

Hence, unless your looking to purchase 100 macs for your department, they really will treat you like a small fish when it comes to paying options, interest in your situation.

A cynic would suggest that the company in question, ComputerTown, pocketed a nice little bit of interest on the cash, but more than likely, there admin isn't as sophisticated as other dynamic industries.

I definitely considered that, but it does seem awfully fishy. That's why I'm asking around.
