Concerned about spyware or virus

Lately I have experienced that my web home page changes without my authorization, prompting me to sign in, over and over again. I have gone into Preferences to choose my preferred settings. The changes are usually stable, as long as the computer is runnin. When I turn it off, or close the web, my home page is not accessible the next time unless I sign in, again. I use Safari with My Yahoo as my home page. My computer also runs slower and hesitates when changing pages. I had no problems until I allowed other users, with limited permissions, to use this comuter.

Sounds to me like your harddrive space is getting so low that you're losing preference files or something like that. Or you're using File Vault and run into a similar problem.

No where in the original post is there any evidence of either spyware or an virus, as the cause of the homepage url change.

But then, no mass Mac spyware and / or virus'es infectations have been detected / verified 'in the wild'.

What was not provided (in the original post) were:
Mac model,
MacOS X version [10.3.4, 10.4.4, etc. - not '10 something ...'],
RAM amount,
Size of hard disk drive and amount of storage available.

Nor mentioned was the size of the '~/Library/Caches/Safari/' folder, and what was meant by '... with limited permissions, ...'.

Thanks group. There's no problem withwith hard drive space. The main drive is dedicated to the OS system and peripherials and there is a second internal drive, plus an external firewire drive. So far I have disconnected the firewire drive after transfering all the information from the 2nd hard drive to it. I then wiped the 2nd internal drive clean. Now I am trying to trace the problem. If not successful, I will install OS x on the 2nd internal drive and then wipe the main drive clean and start from scratch. My system specs are:
Hardware Overview:

Machine Model: Power Mac G4
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.1)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 800 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
Memory: 768 MB
Bus Speed: 133 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.33f2
Serial Number: XB2170JUMK9
Sales Order Number: M8705LL/A
The main drive is 60 GB, with approximately 25 GB left over after system installation.

User's limited permissions mean that several users are allowed to use most applications on the system, but are not allowed to change their passwords.

How much free disk space _is_ there on the system drive? My comment was not about how much there is on other volumes, it's all about the system drive.
