I just installed Photoshop CS3 and now InDesign CS2 and Illustrator CS2 won't open. I tried several suggestions from the Adobe web site tech support but nothing works. I can open these programs, however, if I reboot in Safe Mode (holding down SHIFT key). One of the Adobe web site suggestions was to remove all the StartUp items and add them back one at a time to isolate the problem. I'm hesitant to do this in case I remove something that will lock up my computer. Any suggestions? Are all the StartUp items necessary?

Use system preferences and go to Accounts. Select the tab for StartUp Items. You can check and uncheck which items startup at login.
Not all Startup items are necessary. Some are depending on the program and what they do. But you shouldn't have to worry about locking up your computer. Most are just helper applications.
