Hi Need to connect a Windows XP to a Mac G3 server running File Maker Pro to allow the PC to open files in the File Maker Pro database.

I am unable to get this to work.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance
Paul

Which network protocol is your server running?
Which network protocol are your PC clients using?
Which software are your PCs using to access the database?

I believe the Server is running TCP/IP
The same is true of the Windows PC TCP/IP
There is no software as such, I just want to create a network share.
The G3 Server will provide the network share and the PC will access it.

Yes, I am starting to understand the jargon.

What I have discovered is the Server is really a PC running OS 9
The protocol is Appletalk using TCP/IP

The PC is WIndows TCP/IP

I think from my search for information that OX 9 is not going to support SMB out of the box, and someone has suggested using MCLAN on the PC to give the PC, Appletalk protocol support. MCLAN seems to be a discontinued product.

I have managed to get the OS 9 Web Server up and running, and the PC can connect to that, but its not going to solve my file share required for File Maker Pro running on the MAC G3 OX 9

Does anyone know if I am flogging a dead horse or not?

Regards
Paul
