connecting projector to G4 laptop by USB

Hi,

I am trying to connect a G4 laptop to an Epsom projector. I want to be able to use the remote control to forward slides etc in PowerPoint. The instructions to be able to do this - i.e. to get the remote to act as your mouse you need to connect these with a USB.

However when I do this the laptop thinks I'm trying to connect a keyboard and comes up with the error that it doesn't recognise the keyboard and then freezes until I remove the USB connection.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong / how to get around this?

The instructions state that for Windows there are certain requirements but it's very vague for Macs.

Personally I have always used dedicated "presentation clickers". I am using a keyspan one at the moment, it's also a remote mouse, vloume control, laser pointer and it won't conflict either

I got mine from maplins for about 60 notes (UK), it may seem alot however once you get the hang of it your presentations are much smoother and shorter
