Connection trouble with apple bluetooth mouse

Hi, I have an Apple Bluetooth mouse but I’m having trouble getting connect. In the Bluetooth menu, it’s stated as being a paired device but isn’t actually connected (the red light just flashes in intervals of two). Any advice would be much obliged.

I don't know if the flashing light means anything but here's what I would try.

First try replacing the battery

If that doesn't work then would you have a spare bluetooth mouse? you can try to see if it connects to another mouse.

or do you have another computer that has bluetooth? you can try connecting the other computer to your mouse.
