constant beachball

Originally my Tiger was fast. Yesterday it startedshowing the beachball for most every activity. Sometimes the menu was many seconds bfore dropping down. Connecting to the dial-up line was excruciatingly slow.

I rebooted, ran MacJanitor, repaired permissions. What else could I do? iMac 20 G5, lots of ram.

I may have put this in the worng area, but thought I would give a folow-up here.

I got Tiger Cache Cleaner and ran everything in it that looked helpful. So far it looks like it did what was necessary. If this continues, I will be singing lots of praises to TCC.
