Constant disconnection from the internet

Hello people,

Ever since I got my 15" PB my network compatibility has just got worse and worse. At first I had no issues conntecting Panther to a PC Lan network. Both Internet and file sharing worked fine. a couple of weeks down the line and my PB would no longer recognise any of the networked PC's but still had no problems sharing an Internet connection.
Later on down the line I started to experience random disconection from the internet but recognised ethernet. I now have to wait anything up to an hour before I get contection so I can quickly dash into network prefs and lock any further changes... but I've just noticed that locking the settings doesn't work either.

Somtimes I get 1 min access, sometimes 5 hrs.

Any Ideas?

hi, this won't help you much, but got a similar problem with my trusty old titanium. didn't realize it earlier because i wasn't so much on a network, but since changing office, i've had acloser look on it.

now the situation is similar to yours. in the morning it might take anything from 5 minutes to 5 hours before you can get online with it. if yopu look in the network preferences, you can see, that the ethernet port is not active. so it's a problem connection thru that port. and the light of that port on our router/hub is blinking.

lended the machine to a friend of mine, and he had no problems whatsoever. so maybe it's some kind of a compability issue, i don't know. should look more into it, but doesn't have that much spare time. and since the pb is an extra machine, it's not needed that much.

please let me know, if you find something out.

It is now important to reduce the problem. Right now you could have a problem with your network card, software, router/hub, cables, ISP, settings...
I am refering my question to debairaclijr first:
How does your network look like in detail (computers, routers, hubs, wifi, software...) and is it possible for you to test your ISP and router/hub with the pcs?
Most of the ppl having connection problems with their own network but none with other networks have some probs in settings: 1. Router needs to be resetted 2. A new user account should be created to test the default settings.
