Convert font before print (Illustrator)

When creating graphics to print, do you have to render font types as objects before sending out to print?

Why and how?

You have 3 choices:
1. Send the illustrator file and the fonts to the printer.
2. Select the text box with the pointer tool and from the Text menu select Convert to Outlines, save the file with a different name or you won't be able to edit the text later. If you have many text boxes Select All and then Convert to Outlines.
3. Save the file as a Press Ready PDF.
