Converting PowerMacs to Intel machines

I have a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 Mac. It's more than adequate for my basic needs, but the fans are noisy when it's hot (like now), and I just bought a magicJack USB phone plug that requires a Intel Mac or PC. Do you know of a logic board upgrade or any conversion kit that would effectively turn a PowerMac into an Intel powered MacPro?

Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Cheers, `David Steele

The only way to upgrade the Power Mac G5 to an Intel-based machine is to jack-up the Dual 2 GHz Power Mac G5 and slip a Mac Pro under it.

You could purchase a new motherboard, intel processor, graphics card, and memory, but then you've effectively spent as much as purchasing a brand-new Mac Pro anyway.

Apple doesn't use standard motherboards like PC makers do -- even if the new Intel motherboard fit inside the G5 case, the ports on back wouldn't line up or anything. It would be more trouble than its worth.
