I need to transfer files from my iMac to the new Macbook. I will not be keeping the iMac so all the files are needed. How do I go about transfering these files for little to no cost? What procedures would be necessary to accomplish this goal? Both Machines run Tiger OSX 10.4.10 Please help !
(I've NEVER done this before)

The very easiest way to do the transfer is to copy your user folder. You can do it over the network or by putting it on an external media (DVDs or hard disk).

Thanks Chevy... sherrisonshine is a friend of mine. I was too busy the past couple days to help and suggested her to register on the site and get the best help on the net for macs.

Doesn't Apple offer you a migration assistant when you open a new MacBook? That's what mine did. If it wasn't offered, you can still find it in the Utilities Folder in Applications.

I didn't use it because i wanted to restructure the whole MacBook; start from scratch and only transfer the essentials.
