Copying a CD-ROM to a CD-R in OS X?

Barking at the moon.
I need to burn a copy of a CD-ROM I have for a classmate. I have a CD-RW drive in my eMac and a FireWire CD-RW drive as well.

I tried using Disk Copy but it wouldn't let me burn a copy of the entire CD-ROM, just specific files it contained. The thing is, the CD-ROM is a hybrid and has both Mac and Windows files on it, which I don't think I can see. My friend needs the Windows files so I just want to burn an exact copy of the CD-ROM.

Sorry for the long explaination, hopefully someone can give me a little guidance here. Let me also state that I don't want to have to purchase Toast so I can just copy a CD.

Have you tried using Disk Copy to create a dmg file from the CD-ROM, then burn the dmg file to another disk?

Hmmm. It seems to me that in OS9 there was a key combo which, if held down while inserting a disc, would make the Mac ignore any apparent Mac-specific partition and read the ISO partition instead. I recall that this was necessary to watch certain DVD videos in OS9, like -- the original DVD release of The Matrix, maybe?

Anyway, I don't know if such a thing exists in OSX, but if so, it'd be just the thing. You could try different combinations of option/command/control/shift while inserting the CD-ROM, and see if you get any different looking contents. Maybe try just option first - that sounds like it might be right....

Just a thought.

Thanks gator, I tried that a couple times and when I got to the command to make an image of the disc (hdiutil convert /dev/disk3s1s9 -format UDTO -o "~/Desktop/nameofcd") it came back with "buss error"

The CD is called Como Se Dice and it just has some practice tests, videos and audio files for a Spanish class.
