hoi there,

since a few days my powerbook wont work with midi anymore.
the music programs i use dont show the available midiports and the audio/midi setup crashes when i try to see the midi setup

i hope there is a solution for thes problem

hi borrie, tried to send you an email if you found a way out of this misery.
i have the same problem, suddenly my 10.3.9 system would refuse to work with midi - very strange....

i ve tried to replace the audio midi setup application, i ve tried to get rid of all presets - nothing!

i am thinking about reinstalling the system??

please help anyone!!

Hello there---I'm having exactly the same problem with teh midi setup timing out, and crashing. Reason/cubase will not run. Must be a 10.3.9 problem?
Were you having problems with 10.3.8? I'm planning on reinstalling my whole setup---again. If there is a solution please let me know.

Try repairing permissions through Disk Utility. If that doesn't do it, go into single user mode (hold down apple-s after the startup chime). You'll be dropped into a command line shell. Just follow the directions given once at the prompt to check your drive for errors.

When you upgrade, make sure you don't have any extra USB of Firewire peripherals connected (other than the keyboard and the mouse). Sometimes having the extra peripherals connected during an upgrade can cause all sorts of issues. Just search the board here and you'll see.
