I couldn't eject external disk, searching on internet followed a suggestion to delete com.apple...trash.plist in home folder library/preferences.
still didn't work and I restart the computer and it worked. I can eject the external disk. I continued browsing the internet for several hours. And when I wanted to shutdown I clicked the apple menu choose shutdown nothing came up, no dialog box. I tried the control+alt+command+eject didn't work either.
Trash is empty, so couldn't restore the file.
I have the Mac os x installation disk.
I inserted the disk tried to reinstall and when I clicked the restart button it didn't restart.
So I'm still able to use my computer normally but couldn't shutdown.
It's been hours now. please help.
