Crashing Finder

I am having a crashing Finder problem on a G4 AGP.
OS 10.4.5
This afternoon it started having the Finder cycle through crashing, restarting, about every second. It's impossible to do anything in the Finder. I can launch apps via the Dock or LaunchBar. I can't access or open folders or hard disks.

Rebooting in a different user clears the problem. So problem is with main user account apparently. However, none of the other users have Admin access (so I just created a new user "test" with Admin privileges).

After reading through posts here and other places this is what I've done, none of which has eliminated the problem:

I have rebooted in verbose mode (command line) or used Terminal to
- move all the Desktop files to a new folder in the Documents folder
- moved the Finder prefs file (renamed) com.apple.finder.plist to com.apple.finder.old.plist. I do not have a pref file com.apple.sidebarlists.plist (why?)
-rebuilt the Finder Prefs with Disk Utility
-Used DiskWarrior to rebuild the boot disk
- disconnected the Firewire harddrive
- unmounted the other 2 internal harddrives (drag icon to eject)
- disabled all login items

The console.log reports that :Finder crashed
I can try and get to the log file and post the crash log if that would be helpful.

I need to get this computer back up tonight for my wife to work on !!!
