Why is the apple logo showing up on some universal owned websites...it used to only have the quicktime logo show up but now we see that as well as the logo going straight to apple's homepage.

why isn't king kong available for download from apples quicktime trailer site yet? Also isn't Universal owned by NBC or is a sister company owned by GE. Also, isn't Vivendi onwed it part by Universal and weren't those crazy rumors of something on the 7th of July coming from French journalists, who may have known of the vivendi/universal/apple/nbc dealings??

What is going on and wasnt' there other rumors of and Apple/Universal partnership earlier last year?

Isn't it great to get off that desert island. It is a miracle you survived these last two years. While you were marooned, GE bought controlling interest of Universal from Vivendi Universal. Universal was merged with NBC to form NBC Universal. The old NBC management team now runs NBC Universal. Read and be wise. I may as well be the first to tell you: President George Bush beat Massachusetts Senator John Kerry to win reelection. And miracle of miracles, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series. They beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0 after coming back from an 0-3 deficit to beat the New York Yankees to win the American League pennant.
 
So they're using the Apple logo now instead of the QuickTime one. Sure: Speculate. But probably, Apple just wants to push their Apple logo more, since that's what people know now from the iPods and Macs, whereas QuickTime is promoted through iTunes, anyway (PC users have to get QuickTime in order to run iTunes, Mac users have it anyway).
 
Well, actually (on the King Kong trailer site) they're using both the QuickTime logo and the Apple logo.
 
Just saw that, too. Some companies simply don't want the trailers on the QT site (just like Star Wars III) because they want to push the movie's site. They still like Apple and the QuickTime format, so they let Apple put their logos on that page. (Or Apple pays for that, who knows...)
 
i reckon apple are paying for their logo to be used on the site... there's probably some sort of user agreement that comes with using the QT logo that allows sites to get subsidies if they use the apple logo with a direct link to the apple home page - as well as a seperate link to the QT download page.

the apple logo is enjoying massive brand recognition - and i can imagine that the king kong site will get a huge amount of traffic... which means potentially a huge amount of through traffic for apple.
