create icons

Hi

A question regarding photoshop:

I wanted to create some icons. So i worked on photoshop to start. Made a circle, use effect,....... At the end i have a nice little icon but still inside a square canvas. The background of the image is transparent, but when i try to use this image, i see the canvas white.... What can i do ????

Merge the icon to a layer (make sure you still have the transperancy) and then copy it to Iconographer (available as shareware, worth registering if you're going to do a lot of icon designing) which will then allow you to save the icon with all correct transparency.

I find IconBuilder even better than Iconographer, it's a plug-in for Photoshop and does a top job.
