Curious folder thing

I've noticed a folder in Finder that is unusual in that it has no little arrow beside it, and the contents are listed below it. You cannot close the folder, because there's no little arrow to open or close it when viewing the folders on the disk as a list. I can't understand why this folder is different.

I'm on a Powermac G4 MDD running Leopard.

The folder Retro TV was not like this before, nor were the others beneath it, but now I have to doubleclick to open some of them, while Retro TV has all the folders inside it listed beneath it, and I have no idea how these folders got that way.
