Custom Access mac os x

I seem to be having the same problem many others are regarding permissions to view a hard drive because all permissions are set to custom. I had to use time machine to reformat my internal drive and then I had to erase and start over with my external drive. Now my Time machine drive, which is a time capsule that is connected via ethernet to the imac, is contaminated and i can't access and therefore can't backup and get backups. I've been looking at the solutions and I see that there's a fix by going to the terminal and putting in a command to get rid of the uchg in the following:
