Custom Keys to launch applications

Does anyojne know a way to setup custom keys (like the function keys) to launch your applications.



Just like you could do in OS 9?

I've been using QuickKeys for X. I used to use a really old Control Panel called EasyKeys, but that hasn't been updated in years. Not sure if there's a way to launch apps via keyboard shortcuts in X natively.
 
I would strongly recommend LaunchBar. It's not exactly the same as assigning one key to an ap, but can launch ANYTHING within about 4-5 keystrokes. Very solid product.
