Try to plug in an external Apple USB keyboard and see if the issue persists. But this is likely a keyboard issue. I seen something almost like this a week or two ago in a macbook with a liquid spill. If you didn't spill liquid in it just get a keyboard from ifixit or powerbookmedic. They are relatively easy to install. Otherwise if this is a result of liquid, you may have larger problems then that looming.

Im gonna write in caps here, rest assureD im not shouting it just makes life easier.

NO SPILLS TO MY KNOWLEDGE DESPITE USING IT WHILE WORKING IN A BAR (QUIET NIGHTS THOUGH), ITS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR A YEAR AND MORE NOW BUT EVERYTHING IS RUNNING FINE, KEYBOARD IT IS THEN !!!!

THANKS FOR THE TIME/KNOWLEDGE

My MBP, just 1 year old developed a bad keyboard. (The 9 key would not work)

I bought a new keyboard from http://www.powerbookmedic.com

Was an easy replacement, though I was quite nervous at 1st. Just take your time and keep all screws logically placed. I used a large white towel on the kitchen table.

Make sure you have the required torx and phillips screwdrivers. Home Depot has what you need. 1 each with multiple heads for each.

The OP has an ibook and will have a much easier time than doing a macbook pro. The ibook is 4 phillips screws to remove the RAM door as opposed to removing the top case then working with the ribbon connectors then the 11-12 screws that attach the keyboard to the top case on the macbook pros.
