Last night as I was just about to use calculator all the widgets simply vanished from the desktop (starting view as you open Dashboard) and now if I try to open any of them I just got this fancy wave animation (they won't stay open), anybody know what's going on ? Did I hit some mysterious keyboard shortcut or what ? I've 1,25Ghz G4 PowerBook with 10.4.8 OSX.

Thanks in advance!

I just wanted to report the same problem.
The screen darkens (as it should) when activating Dashboard, but no widgets show up. When trying to add them again, the splash appears but no widget.
I have tried removing the recently added widgets and removing .plist files from both sys library and user library. I have even restarted the machine and tried starting and stoppinng Dashboard via Terminal - but no luck. It is still empty. I did not have this problem before 10.4.8 upgrade. Anyone got any clues?

best regards,
berving

I just thought I should let you all know that the good old repair permissions did the trick. How could I forget? ;-)
