Dat Coax-digital Out to Mac Toslink Optical In

My Mac line inputs were zapped by lightening. Getting them fixed would probably be very expensive. So I thought to use a CO2 coax<->optical converter to get the DAT output into my G5. No luck so far. Suggestions anyone?

First, check with your insurance, as many policies cover repairs to appliances damaged by electrical storms. It can't hurt to ask.

Am I to understand, though, that you are attempting to get sound in to your G5 using the optical data out port? If so, you won't have much luck. If you need to get sound in and your line-in is broken, you could use an iMic adapter to let you plug sound sources in through the USB port.
 
Thanks, but I've no insurance for this. I'm not trying to input to an output and hope I never will. ;) My G5 has optical IN as well as optical OUT. I haven't tried an iMic adapter because I already have the CO2 and am trying to make use of the G5's optical port. If this fails, I certainly will investigate your suggestion.
