Data on an Ipod

Yes, certainly. An iPod can be used to all effects as a FireWire harddisk. You can even boot from it!

Just open the iPod window in iTunes and check enable firewire disk use, then it will show up in the finder.

Of course, you can't view the pictures or data on the iPod's screen, but you can store them there for later retrieval

I put all my data, files etc to my iPod from my iBook. So that's now the only place I have my stuff in ... for the next 10 days. :)

Gia - I was just wondering if you can mount the iPod on another computer without it giving you a bunch of crop about syncing the music libraries. I only have one mac, and was wondering how an iPod associated with one mac handled getting hooked up to another. Wanna give me the quick review?

I have put the Mac to never ask me to sync the musics. I will likely do the same on the new Book too.

The files .. I jsut surf them on finder.

It functions as a Firewire HD. Plug it in to your imac (disk mounted). Plug it into your powerbook (disk mounted). It is that simple! Running itunes on another computer will ask if you want to replace the music and that is owned by someone else.
