is there anyway to display the date next to the time on the top toolbar?

currently displaying the time and day but would love to be able to see the date again as in windows

Search versiontracker.com or macupdate.com for freeware (or shareware) about "menu" and "date" or "clock". The system's version doesn't do date in the menubar. Others do.
 
I put together a .pdf that shows how I put the day, date, and time on my menu bar. I found the instructions on the web, but have included screen shots to make it even easier to understand. This is free, BTW, and requires no software other than your OS. I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.8 on both my iMac and MacBook Pro.
